Welcome to our Community! Open Table Community is a small group of folks in the Chamblee-Doraville area of Atlanta, Georgia.  Our goal is to mature into a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-class body of believers.  We are active in our community and are blessed to be working in the Pearl Lane apartments where we are being taught about doing after-school programs, reading programs, ESL, etc.  Truth be told, the Lord has us there not because the folks at Pearl Lane need us (there are much more mature and capable people and ministries out there).  He has us there because he is changing us.

What’s in a name?

 

Open Table Community used to be known as Northside Community Church. In 2004 the Lord began a transformation of our goals, values, and location. He moved us from the suburbs to a more industrial part of town, and refined our focus and ministry. The redefining is best described by the title, “Open Table.”

Open Table describes several things about us. First, we are simple. We are not fancy, sophisticated, hip, or cool. We want to stick to the basics of living and loving, and we want to live and love well. Second, we are inclusive. The image of a banqueting table is central in various teachings and parables in the gospels about people from every social strata and nation being welcome at the big party God is going to throw at the end of the age. We want our congregation to include everyone from every nation, class, ethnicity and social strata. Everyone is welcome here under the banner of Christ’s love. Third, the name of the congregation describes the quality we want in our everyday lives. As a people we want to make his love tangible in our everyday welcome and humble service to all people. We want our homes and families to be Open Tables, not just the name of our congregation.
